Triangular Pencil Grip: Mold for Silicone Casting

Triangular Pencil Grip: Mold for Silicone Casting

Make a 3D Printed 3-part mold for silicone casting projects. For this project I used a Smooth-On brand Ecoflex product, which is a 2-part mix that cures over 4 hours after being combined and mixed. (https://www.smooth-on.com/product-line/ecoflex/) Wrap some rubber bands around the channels to keep the sections tight during the curing phase. I used the toaster oven for a quick, 10-minute cure, at a low heat (read more details at the Smooth-On website). I did this because my PLA print was porous enough to let the low viscosity liquid silicone seep through the gaps. You don't want it to ooze out over 4 hours! IMPORTANT: Make sure not to cure in an oven that you would also cook food in later. Make this your new "science oven". How I Designed This Find the design files on TinkerCAD. ( https://tinkercad.com/things/a9I87Zb1Phd ) You can remove the triangular wedge negative and insert your own "hole" shape to customize the grip design.
