For the needs of the massage studio I designed an information sign that shows three states - CLOSED, FREE and DO NOT DISTURB. However, you can use it elsewhere after editing your callouts. I offer a few variants ready for download.

The first version of the Triple-State Sign was much simpler and counted on marking individual states using labels printed on self-adhesive foil, cut and attached to the sign parts. However, this proved to be an impractical solution that led to rapid scratching and destruction of labels.

So, I decided to remake the whole Triple-State Sign so that all the labels were printed on a 3D printer using apropriate colours. It was a really difficult task and it meant to complicate the parts of the sign significantly. At the same time, I did not want to see any color from some parts of the sign to be leaking and disturbing nice clean appearance after assembly.

To print and assemble this Triple-State Sign you need more advanced knowledge of the 3D print and a good deal of patience. I wish you well. Happy printing.

PARTS NEEDED:
1x Front Frame
1x Large Slider
1x Middle Frame - Top Half
1x Middle Frame - Bottom Half
1x Small Slider
1x Back Frame - Left Half
1x Back Frame - Right Half
4x M3 Hex Nut
4x Panhead Screw M3x8
5x Neodymium Magnet Ø 12mm, 2mm thick
6x Double-Sided Tape, square 18x18mm

MATERIAL NEEDED:
• PET-G - White, Red, Green, Orange, Black
• Superglue

TOOLS NEEDED:
• Screwdriver (according panhead screw type)
• Snap-off knife
• Sand paper
• Flat file

ASSEMBLY:
The Triple-State Sign is made up of a Front Frame with inside pockets for four M3 hex nuts. Additional parts are gradually inserted into this frame.
First part, a Large Slider, on the front of which is a logo or text indicating the location, for example, OFFICE, RESTROOM, etc. There is a magnet glued on the back side of the Large Slider.
Next part, the Middle Frame - its Lower Half and Upper Half, on whose front is the label of one of the states e.g. CLOSED and there is an opposite magnet glued from behind, which holds a Large Slider in the upper position.
Next part is a Small Slider, which again has a magnet glued from the back.
The Triple-State Sign is closed by the Left and Right Back Frame, which have other states from the front side such as FREE and DO NOT DISTURB. From the back of the two rear panels are glued the last two opposites magnets, which hold the Small Slider in place.
The Triple-State Sign is screwed all together by four panhead screws M3x8mm. To attach assembled information sign to a door or wall, there are flat parts on the back to which the double-sided adhesive tape can be glued and used to fix the sign.

NOTE: When gluing the magnets, make sure that they are correctly oriented to attract to each opposite pair. Let the glue dry enough before assembling all parts together to avoid tearing magnets off.

CONCLUSION
As a compromise, the weakest point in the Triple-State Sign design is the printing of sliding parts with supports that need to be removed and cleaned, which can be tricky. It's a price for the smooth side of the sliders.

A feedback, comment or like is always welcome!

Share with me how this product helps you, how you use it or why you like it or not.
What is your story with this product?

Print instructions

There are few parts printed with single white filament colour which is easy and other parts which needs more attention during printing because you will need to change filaments colours several times. Follow the list.

SINGLE COLOUR PARTS (All layers White):

• Front Frame
• Small Slider
• Middle Frame - Bottom Half

MULTI COLOUR PARTS

• Large Slider - with Logo or label e.g. OFFICE
0.0 - 0.6mm (White)
0.8 - 1.0mm (Black)
1.2 - to top (White)

• Middle Frame - Top Half - with label e.g. CLOSED
0.0 - 0.6mm (Red)
0.8 - to top (White)

• Back Frame - Left Half - with label e.g. FREE
0.0 - 0.6mm (Green)
0.8 - to top (White)

• Back Frame - Right Half - with label e.g. DND!
0.0 - 0.6mm (Orange)
0.8 - to top (White)
