Tripod and Orb Stand for a Glow Cloud

thingiverse

This is a stand and adapter piece that was designed as a stand for a glow cloud. The full write up is [here](https://readmodifywrite.github.io/blog/html/2017/07/20/2017-07-20_how_to_make_a_glow_cloud.html). There are two parts, both designed in OpenSCAD. The stand itself is a tripod/orb, with a hole in the top of the orb to fit the adapter piece. The adapter is attached to the glow cloud itself. The tripod/orb is a tricky part to print. I'm using an E3D V6 Volcano with the 0.8mm nozzle on a Printrbot Simple Metal with upgraded Z and X axes, printing a 0.6mm layer height at 30mm/sec. It'll be around 6-7 hours at that setting. It is designed to not require support material. It is around 10 inches high and 6 inches wide. I used clear PLA for mine. I recommend trimming the part down to just the orb, and try printing the orb first. Otherwise, you may get the legs right, but then find out after wasting a ton of material that the orb is not working out at all. It took me 5 tries to get the whole thing to work.
