Under the configurations L/LS/LK 1114/42, L1114/48 and LS/LK 1114/36, these Mercedes-Benz models were benchmarks and even in this new millennium they still dare to confront the developments that prevail these days. Some companies are reluctant to renew them. As it happens nowadays, and even more for those early days, the low operating costs, the low tare and the preservation of the resale value also had a great influence for the 1114 to become a classic of the Argentinean transport. The permanent response and safety in any application made this truck invade the roads. So much was the furor for this unit that the Juan Manuel Fangio Industrial Center, in Virrey del Pino, worked at a feverish pace to meet the demand. Since their entry into the assembly line in 1968, these units were produced almost entirely with Argentine auto parts. The frame, the cab, the engine (in its entirety) the gearbox and the front axle, had national labor and raw material. Only the high and low rear axle was supplied by EATON. Due to its technical characteristics, the 1114 excelled in performance and a high level of reliability. These are memories that, 25 years after its release from the market, are still latent.
