<p>I originally made this to support the rear hatch of my 3rd gen 4runner to prevent it from closing on me when the shocks got weak or I was in cold weather. But I have since realized it will work on most gas struts. You may find it useful when working under the hood on cars with gas hood props to prevent the hood or trunk from coming down on your head.
