Tube Joiners

Tube Joiners

This is part of a project I've been working on to produce a room divider / shelf unit for the lounge. I got the idea from a company called SpaceStor who produce a unit called Pallisades and normally supply the commercial market. The price they quoted me was over £4000!! The furniture comprises 2 wall units from Ikea that I am putting 3D printed feet on. The upper part comprises steel tube joined by printed tube joiners. The steel I used to go with this was cut and supllied by Metals4U in the UK and needed 2 sizes to match the depth and width of the 2 units. The steel size I chose is 15.9mm (od) x 1.2mm (wall thickness). I ordered 12@326mm and 34@370mm. The order totalled £32 cut & delivered which is brilliant. The tube joiners are designed to be printed without supports which I think is always important. I did notice the upright post/spigot does end up with a slightly narrower dimension than the rest. I may need to adjust one of the axis by a tiny multiplier if possible. I'll update this as I progress.
