Tulum was a port for the larger, inland city of Cobá.

The pyramid was not a castle, but a temple. That's just the name Spanish conquistadors gave to structures like this because it's what they were familiar with. This shrine marks a break in the barrier reef that is opposite the site. Here there is a cove and landing beach in a break in the sea cliffs that would have been perfect for trading canoes coming in.

Tulum is the third most visited archeological site in Mexico, due to its proximity to touristic centers such as Cancún (from Wikipedia).

MiniWorld 3D is excited to bring this historical model to life as a homage to all the people of Mexico.
