Turkey Foot Prosthesis

Turkey Foot Prosthesis

thingiverse

This is a remix of a leg / foot prosthesis for a stork that has been modified for a Turkey who lost it's foot. It could also work for a chicken. Original Design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1283091 The design consists of four sections: foot lower leg mid leg (need 2 of these) upper leg (need 2 of these) I have provided the original files (with some reorientation for easier printing) as well as a short and very short version of the mid leg and a shortened version of the lower leg. I printed these parts using PETG for extra strength and 15% infill to try and keep the weight down. You could also use PLA or ABS though. Support is required for the upper leg and lower leg sections, optional for the foot and not necessary for the mid leg as it lays flat. You will also need 2x M5x8 20mm bolts and 2x M5x8 nylon locking nuts to secure the the mid leg and upper leg. To secure the foot to the lower leg, one screw or bolt and some super glue to prevent the foot from spinning loose. To secure the mid leg to the lower leg, drill pilot holes and use 2x small screws on each side. You could optionally use some super glue here as well. I recommend sanding the mid leg and upper leg sections, where they meet together, with 400 grit sandpaper to reduce friction. To actually attach the prosthetic to the Turkey, you will want padding to line the inside of the prosthetic and around the leg as well as some string or zip-ties to attach it. Make sure it is tight but not too tight. Disclaimer: I am not a veterinarian or expert and assume no responsibility for harm caused by this design.
