Twilight Sparkle's Sceptre (Twilicane)

A 3D printable Twilicane! (or Twilight Sparkle'™s sceptre). This appeared for about 3 seconds in a recent episode of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and somehow became a massive meme overnight, so I decided what the world really needs is a real one and here it is. Enjoy! Instructions You will need:- -One 400mm long 22mm diameter wooden dowel (I got a meter of it from eBay for about £2.50) -One can of Gold spray paint (again I got it from eBay. a 250ml can which was only just enough for £3.85) -One 40mm diamond cut Equestrian ruby, cut from the earth by Diamond Dog gem masters and imbued with the magic of Celestia herself... or, if you don'™t have access to one of those you could do what I did and buy a cut glass paperweight from eBay just search for '˜diamond cut red glass gem'™ and look for one about 40mm across. the one I got was £4.24. There are two parts to print, the head and the gem holder, the gem holder is an easy and quick print and needs no support but the head is slightly more difficult and does need support. The rod should just press fit into the head so no fixings should be needed there but the gem holder needs gluing to the end and the gem needs gluing into the gem holder. Just use a hot glue gun for this. Depending on the tolerance of your printer and the rod you get you may need to sand the ends of the rod to get it to fit. The rod I was sent ended up as 22.4mm instead of 22mm. The parts should be sprayed separately before assembly to get a good covering. Both parts were printed on a Replicator MK1 in ABS with a layer height of 0.15 a 20% infill and no shells. The head took about 8 hours and the gem holder half an hour. To finish off the parts acetone vapour was used (parts placed in a glass container with acetone at the bottom placed on the heated printer bed) it seems to work best if both parts are treated after being sprayed as the paint will also smooth out in acetone vapour.
