Twist-In T Slot Nut

Twist-In T Slot Nut

This plastic nut (designed for M5 bolts) is designed for non-structural connections to the standard 20mm aluminium extrusions (with 6mm wide slot) used for a number of 3D printers. This is a cheap alternative to the expensive "post install" Tee slot nuts that you can buy online. I required some firm connections to mount a spool holder off the top of my 3D printer, and while I didn't need these nuts to support the weight of the frame, I needed something to grip the frame so as to prevent wobble. I haven't tested the strength of these extensively, but the units that I've printed so far are getting a firm grip. I'll post some pictures of the nuts used to secure my spool holder on my blog, some time in the next couple of days:http://teslaandi.wordpress.com/ Instructions Print nut. Slip into the slot on your 20mm extrusion, with the wides side up (so that the taper on the nut matches the extrusion slot profile, as shown in the photographs above). Using M5 bolts of suitable length, secure whatever it is that you are holding in place (maximum 5-6mm beyond the outer face of the aluminium profile)
