Two-axis Camera Gimbal using 2204 motors

Two-axis Camera Gimbal using 2204 motors

thingiverse

This is a WIP. Inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3207521 I wanted to make a 2-axis gimbal camera mount for my Mavic Clone but couldn't find the right motors for the one built by Lancerevo21. Instead, I used a similar design that I made from scratch, using cheap 2204 brushless Gimbal motors. These are quite a bit larger and heavier than Lancerevo21's design, and as yet, untested because I'm still waiting on the arrival of a Storm32 Controller. The whole assembly as pictured is 65g (W/O camera) Apart from one bracket that bolts to the Mavic and attaches to my "outer_gimbal_mount", all of these files are my own work although inspired by Lancerevo21's design. If you want to build this, then you'll need that one bracket (mavic_clone_gimbal_mini_split_v2_1.stl) from his work, or else design your own. The motors I used are similar to: 2204 260kv Gimbal Brushless Motor Hollow Shaft. They're cheap and pretty common on eBay, Aliexpress etc. You'll need some super glue to join the (two) motor-mounts to the inner and the outer gimbal brackets. The motor mounts are printed separately to the inner and outer gimbal mounts and then glued to them. This is necessary because if printed as single parts, they would lack strength. My first attempt at gluing the motor mount to the inner gimbal, I didn't notice that I had failed to glue the motor mount at exactly 90 degrees to the gimbal mount. Needs care. My Mavic Clone build is here on the DIY RC Forum : http://diyrc.co.uk/mavic-build-diaries/new-build-by-a-newbie/msg6143/#new
