THIS IS A WORKING MODEL OF A VERTICAL DOUBLE ACTING TWO CYLINDER STEAM ENGINE. DESIGNED, PRINTED, TESTED, AND REFINED BY MYSELF. GOAL OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO CREATE A WORKING AND AESTHETICALLY PLEASING MODEL STEAM ENGINE USING ALL PRINTED PARTS THAT COULD VERY EASILY BE PRINTED USING BASIC SLICER AND PRINTER SETTINGS AND MINIMAL HARDWARE. BEING THERE IS NO USE OF BEARINGS OR SEALS, PARTS WILL NEED PARTIALLY DRILLED, SANDED, AND/OR FILED TO FIT SUCH AS THE PISTON AND VALVE IN THE CYLINDER, THE CRANKSHAFT IN THE BASE, ETC. TO ASSEMBLE THIS ENGINE YOU WILL NEED TWELVE (12) M3X16 CAP HEAD SCREWS, FOURTEEN (14) M3X12 CAP HEAD SCREWS, FOUR (4) M2X12 CAP HEAD SCREWS AND A SMALL FILE, MEDIUM GRIT SAND PAPER, AND A BASIC SET OF DRILL BITS. NO GLUE, GASKETS, OR BEARINGS. EVERYTHING CAN BE PRINTED WITH 10%-100% INFILL (HIGHER INFILL PERCENTAGE RECOMMENDED FOR CRANKSHAFT PARTS AND PISTONS) AND NO SUPPORTS IF PRINTED IN THE CORRECT ORIENTATION. ALL PARTS ARE IN THE CORRECT PRINTING ORIENTATION. FILE NAMES HAVE PART AMOUNTS NEEDED i.e. x2, x3. TWO FLYWHEELS AS SHOWN IS NOT NECESSARY, CAN BE RAN WITH ONE OR EVEN NONE IF YOURE FEELING ADVENTUROUS. 31 PARTS IN TOTAL WITH TWO FLYWHEELS.
