Two-handled Jug, Caerlaverock Castle

Two-handled Jug, Caerlaverock Castle

sketchfab

This reconstructed two-handled jug is made from an orange sandy fabric with a dark green glaze. It has decoration on the neck and a thumbed sagging base. Strips in the form of a cross on the shoulder are similar to ones on objects made at the Ashton kiln at Chester in the 1300s. It was recovered from archaeological excavations of the moat at Caerlaverock Castle between 1955 and 1966.
