This remix separates the base of the <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2528163">original Thing (9mm version only)</a> into a top and bottom half and adds magnets to attach the two halves of the base together. This has two advantages: 1. Easier stowage in a field bag. Smaller pockets in the bag can be used to store the UpLULA and the pickup rail side-by-side. 2. Eliminates extra bulk when trying to rake up rows of ammo. The rail portion of the extension can be removed so that the ammo tray can stay firmly on a table or other flat surface while the rail is loaded. This design requires four block magnets, each 1/4" x 1/2" x 1/16". N52 or stronger magnets are recommended due to the torque that they are subjected to when the rail is full of cartridges.
