Tycho - lunar crater

Tycho - lunar crater

thingiverse

Model of the lunar crater Tycho derived from LOLA data - one of the younger craters with ejecta plumes that reach across much of the visible side. Part of the ongoing NASA/RISG project to bring space science education to the blind. Instructions As per my other space based prints, used Rhino3D, used the heightfield heightfield command to convert an grayscale converted image from laser altimetry data (http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/565693main_lroc_wac_dtm_tycho.jpg), converted the heightfield to a mesh and applied it to a box structure to give it some height. Printed on a Replicator. Some warpage in my print (there is still a weird issue with slab like prints on the platform not sticking well).
