U.S. Liberty Dollar Coin NextEngine Scan

thingiverse

This is a 1971 U.S. Liberty dollar scan, done with a NextEngine scanner at the highest resolution, to highlight the capabilities of this scanner. I have been having problems with the included software fusing and simplifying the files (they just get scrambled), so I have imported them into Meshlab for finishing and waterproofing. I've included three files: The raw scan from NextEngine One that has been Point Set reconstruction, then decimated to ~150,000 faces One that has been Poisson surface reconstruction, then decimated to ~150,000 faces You can see the relief pattern obliquely, enough to read the year, but I'm not sure if it's enough to get a good print. I'm posting these in case anyone would like to play with them and get a better post-processing resolution. Please post comments if you do, and photo if you print it!
