UFO Lamp
thingiverse
I've been tinkering with a pretty sweet table top lamp design for years, and I'm finally satisfied with where it's headed. The legs have gone through numerous iterations, and I've decided they need to be external to the disc halves. The two discs are vacuum formed from white, light diffusing plastic, which gives them a unique translucent look. The legs and ring can be crafted from acrylic or aluminum or any other metal you prefer. Initially, I plan to use acrylic on the laser cutter, then fabricate the parts in aluminum once I'm confident about all the dimensions. The light source can be either a battery-powered RGB LED or an AC-powered LED. However, running a wire from the light to the outlet might compromise the aesthetic appeal of the design.
