The Table Vise is a modified version of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4188958. The original design was supposed to be used for preparing skis. We widened and stiffened a few areas, to turn it into a general purpose vise that clamps to the top of a table. We added a small groove that could grip a circuit board or other thin shape. It appears to be a robust design that could be modified further for other shapes for the jaws, or deep clamping area. The original design used metric bolts, which is a great idea, except larger bolt sizes are hard to source locally. We switched the design to use inch sized (imperial) hardware. We also changed how the nuts and bolts are used. With our design the head of the bolt is captured in a hexagonal counterbore inside the handle. This made sense to us, and the both the original photos and description didn't explain how it was supposed to work. Two lock nuts are used to capture the bolts in a certain location. At the top on the frame the handle acts as the opposing capture point. We added washers here to provide a bearing surface that would resist wearing. Not perfect, but better than just plastic. At the bottom in the lower jaw, we used two regular nuts that are tightened against each other to lock them in place. With a slight space for clearance the lower jaw is allow to stay in place as the bolt is tightened. We added a 9/16 socket that is split in half. This way you can tighten the lock nut while everything is assembled. You will need to print two halves to get the whole socket. Recommend using supports everywhere. We used wall thickness around 1.6mm. Adjust the number of layers as needed. Because we used a thicker wall, we only used 35% fill density. I tried saving this as a remix, but Thingiverse couldn’t find the original using either the id number or html address. I included a link in the description.
