UHF Satcom Antenna

UHF Satcom Antenna

This is a re-design of the popular DIY UHF Satcom antenna which was published several years ago in the special interest magazine MONITORING TIMES. The so called „MT Omni X-wing“ antenna was designed for a fixed setup. My Re-design is more like the commercial antennas in use by the army. The antenna is mounted onto an ordinary camera tripod, instead of a fixed mesh ground reflector. The mesh is replaced by 6mm radials as reflector. The mounting of the two dipoles is covered with a printed housing. The housing can hold a director boom, if someone need it. More about the details of my re-design can be found on my blog: http://diebastelkammer.wordpress.com I whish everyone a good re-build 73 Instructions For construction you need the following materials: 1 x HT DN 75 plastic pipe (Length 511,5mm) 4 x Aluminum sheet 0,8mm (254x38mm) 8 x Aluminum rods, Dia. 6mm (Length 500mm) 12 x M3 screws and nuts 11 x M6 nuts 3 x M6 screws 1 x M8 nut 2 x F type connectors (Female) 5 x F type connector (male), Size 7 1x F type connector (male), size 5 1x F type T-connector (female) 4 x compression cable connectors with ring ends Appr. 10 cm of 1,25mm² solid copper wire Appr. 0,5m RG-6 coax cable Appr. 0,6m RG-58 coax cable Appr. 3,1m cable (Outer diameter 3,1mm) 12 printed parts Paint spray 2k Epoxy glue You will find more information on how to build the antenna on my blog:http://diebastelkammer.wordpress.com/2014/07/09/uhf-satcom-diy-x-wing-antenne-die-fertigstellung-teil-5/
