This clip is for keeping the magnetic fan bracket closed on an Ultimaker 3. I have had this door flip down in the middle of long prints, grab the edge of the print and knock the glass build plate out of its clips and ruin the print. This seems to mainly happen when using 3D Solex Hard Core extruders, maybe they are a little bit longer and press against the bottom gasket. This is designed for ease of release when exchanging print cores while also staying out of the way of fan vents, slider blocks, and the lift switch.
