Filament Feeder Tool is a simple wedge type tool to assist in maintenance of the Ultimaker2 filament feeder. The problem is that when you remove the filament feeder the filament drive motor shifts into the case resting on the motor cover. This requires you to remove the motor cover and hold the motor while you reinstall the filament feeder. This tool will allow you to complete the filament feeder removal and replacement without allowing the motor to shift its position. In addition to this tool it is very helpful to have 2 40mm x 3mm cap screws. Initially remove just the top 2 screws from the filament feeder and replace them with the 40mm cap screws. Once this is complete you can then remove the bottom 2 screws and insert the wedge keeper under the knurled pinion to hold the stepper motor in place. Finally remove the top two long screws along with the filament feeder. It is not necessary but suggested that one of the long screws is replaced to help keep the stepper motor aligned in the chance that the machine could get bumped and move the motor out of alignment. Once the necessary maintenance is complete you remove the alignment screw and using the long screws insert them in the two top holes. Then using these screws as handles remove the wedge tool and install the bottom two screws. Finally replace the top long screws with the proper screws as original. You may find it beneficial to modify the thickness of the wedge tool to accommodate your units particular pinion to wall gap.
