Ultimaker Filament Spool Brackets

Ultimaker Filament Spool Brackets

The stock filament spool brackets that come with the Ultimaker do not fit the very narrow spindle holes on the massive 5 pound PLA Filament spools from Ultimachine. Thus, I designed these minimalistic, "plug and play" replacements which work fabulously! I designed these in Alibre Design. Ultimaker + Ultimachine = 3D printing nirvana! Instructions Print out a set of both left and right brackets. PLA makes these brackets very strong, even with as little as 20% infill. Remove stock brackets, substituting these brackets as a "plug and play" replacement. They should fit nice and snug. Hoist your awesome 5 lb spool of Ultimachine PLA and slip it onto the new brackets. Marvel at just how well the brackets support the spool. Ponder all the amazing things you will now be able to print with this seemingly endless supply of PLA. Optionally, place a piece of styrofoam, packing peanut or small piece of foam or bubble wrap between the two ends of the brackets to keep them from flexing together under the friction/stress of the motion of the spool feeding filament to the machine. Enjoy non-stop PLA printing!
