This part was created as an internal benchmark tool by UltiMaker and is being shared so that users of UltiMaker materials can test their prints against the example prints we highlight during material launches. This part was designed by [Jeremy Evers](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-evers-18a79bb1/), a Technical Sales Engineer working at UltiMaker. The sample print shown in the images was printed using [UltiMaker PET CF.](https://ultimaker.com/materials/s-series-pet-carbon-fiber/) The UltiMaker office is littered with dozens of these Y-coupler prints in almost as many different materials. The reason is that this part is used as a benchmark print in order to help tune new material profiles. It has many useful features that can help you to judge dimensional accuracy and visual quality. This STL is part of the reason why our recently released PET CF material profiles are as reliable as they are! Here are some of the features that can be used for benchmarking your print: * **Thread quality** - Is the thread functional or do the overhanging threads sag too much during printing? * **Overhangs** - Aside from the threads, the Y-shape of the print offers steep overhangs that can be a challenge to print and which can help you to tune your cooling. * **Fastener holes** - There are holes on the sides that go through the part. One side is sized for an M5 hex head and the other is round. These can be tested to see if they print correctly and if they are dimensionally accurate. * **UltiMaker logo** - Even our self-promotion is useful as the logo can be used to test for ringing or ghosting artifacts. Allowing you to fine-tune the visual quality of your parts. * **Top opening** - The opening to each tube on the top of the print can be used to test for stringing, allowing you to tune your retractions. And they can also be tested for dimensional accuracy. * **Mystery surprise** - Finally, there is one extra feature of this part that only the most observative are likely to find!
