UM2 Nozzle Cam Fan Shroud

UM2 Nozzle Cam Fan Shroud

WORK IN PROGRESS I made a Ultimaker 2 Nozzle Cam Fan Shroud with the endo-scope camera protruding from the right side. I decided the right side because the front would cause issues with my plan to convert to the mark 2 tool changer upgrade, the back & left would have hit the walls of the printer while homing. The fan shroud with the addition of the endo-cam is a bit wider than the original, so it's advisable that you decrease the overall build volume by 20mm or so. I also would recommend adjusting the print head size so no collisions occur while printing multiple parts. (see images for my settings) I used this endo-scope from ali-express (8mm soft cable) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32967094275.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.48754c4dnryQoB The only issue I am having is the focal distance/range of the camera is 40-60mm & the current design mounts the camera about 27mm away from the nozzle, so the image is a bit blurry.(but you still can observe the print in detail while printing, its not too bad). I am working to find a new endo-scope with a shorter focal distance. leave a comment if you have discovered any. The easiest way I've found to print this thing is to separate the fan mounts from the body of the fan shroud. This way you can print with no supports. You just need to glue the pieces together once complete. the fan doesn't experience much load at all, so its not a big deal. I also have two versions of the part B aka fan mounts, one which was standard, and the other 1.5mm thicker since my last version seemed to bottom out on the slotted mounting holes & this was the easiest fix. like I said, its a work in progress, but its 95% complete. I have the nozzle camera along with the printer connected to a rasberry pi running rasbian and octo-print. that way I can watch whats going on with my print from the luxury of my couch =) I have attached a fusion 360 file of the entire project if you care to make any modifications STP file of the unified nozzle cam fan shroud STL of the unified nozzle cam fan shroud STL of the nozzle cam fan shroud broken into 3 pieces Part A is the main body Part B Left is the left fan mount Part B Right is the right fan mount and both Part B's have a modified version 1.5mm thicker than the original. The last version I made was in standard PLA, & the fan shroud has warped a little over time, but not by much. I used aluminized tape to insulate the hot end. kapton tape may work as well, or if you wanna get crazy - I designed a mold to cast a silicone sock for the hot end which can be found here: ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5365259 ) feel free to drop a comment if you have any questions. more projects can be found on my website at https://www.devonkile.com/3d-printing
