Umbrella

Umbrella

Designed for Zsofia Opra-Szabo’s set model for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. The assembled umbrella has a diameter of approx. 10cm. (4 in.) See more of my designs at https://www.thingiverse.com/Winslow/designs Instructions You will need to print 12 copies of the umbrella section to make a complete umbrella. It is possible to print all of them at once by arranging all 12 sections on the printing plate using the Makerbot software, however, on my Replicator 2 I found that there was a tendency to lose the little point at the top of each piece, which didn’t happen when the parts were printed separately. The pieces slot together quite easily, and need to be fixed permanently into place with a few dabs of superglue. Avoid the problem of inserting the final piece into position by assembling the pieces to form two halves of the umbrella, and finish by gluing the halves together. You can use either the straight stick or the hooked version. PRINT TIMES: A single section takes 18m. to print. Each stick, hooked or straight, takes 5m. to print. *** I've recently added a smaller sized section to the Thing Files which produces a smaller umbrella, and works in exactly the same way as the larger one. It takes 11m. to print.
