Underwater Camera Mount

A beautiful calm and day in the Winter school holidays, and No. 1 was wanting to try out his camera on the paddleboard. Juggling a camera and a paddle can be a bit tricky, especially given that the Polaroid camera doesn't have any form of camera mount. So if you find yourselves in a similar predicament then this design might be the answer. You'll need to acquire or print a suitable deck mount (we used a mount from the SUP manufacturer) and find yourselves a 60mm O-ring (freshly raided from the spares drawer) to bungee everything together. We printed the design in a mix of PLA and PLA+ to match the board colors and to provide a bit of extra strength around the attachment points. All in all it turned out pretty well for a quick design.

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/DgAoXL9XzV0"></oembed>

The OpenSCAD source has been provided (as well as the design files and gcode), so you should be able to easily customize the design for your needs if required. Hopefully the design parameters and code comments are self-explanatory.

The assembly process and results can be seen in the video. No dolphins or seals today, just a very excited puppy on the shore.

Tip: Remember to use the wrist strap to secure the camera as a fail safe in case the O-ring fails. Saves having to go for an unwanted swim.
