If I ever have the misfortune to have activated one of these AFO balls, my printer will be toast but hopefully the damage to everything else will be limited. My main concern in its installation however, was in getting the ball close enough to the print bed without being an obstruction within an enclosure. My enclosure has a removable top so I also wanted the ball to stay in a fixed position and be completely secure either when I removed the top or if the enclosure got accidentally knocked. This mount has been designed to be used with the Mini AFO Automatic Fire Extinguisher Ball (as well as the nylon cage which accompanies it); and has a concave base which shares the same radius of curvature as the ball - as well as an annular recess to house the fuse which resides along its circumference. The advantage of using this mount is that it can be employed on any flat surface - vertical, sloping or horizontal: it can be used solely as a cradle - or as intended - to suspend the ball from the ceiling of a print enclosure. Within each tripod leg there are two parallel slots designed to accommodate a nylon zip-tie that is looped around the cage in order to firmly secure the ball and provide the necessary support when the ball is suspended (see photos).
