Universal Forstner Bit Holder with Mounting Adapters

<p>A universal holder for a complete set of Forstner bits 1/4" through 2" in 1/8" increments (more or less, 13 bits total, no spots for 1 3/4" or 1 7/8"). The holders measures 6.5" in length and presents the bits at a 15º angle for easy access. Pictured above with the magnet mount adapters attached.</p><h4><strong>Print Instructions</strong></h4><p>This object requires two prints:</p><ol><li><strong>Main bodies: </strong>Print in PLA, 15 to 20% infill, 0.25mm layer height, no supports. Print with large flat side of model on the print bed. There is one body for the smaller bits sizes, and one body for the larger bits.<br><br><i>NOTE: Due to the size of this part, there is an increased tendency to warp during printing (even with PLA). Take extra precautions to minimize warping (such as bed glue and higher bed temp).</i><br>&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Flexible inserts: </strong>Print in Flex (TPU or similar), 100% infill, 0.20mm layer height, no supports. Print with flat surface of model on the print bed.</li></ol><p>Final assembly requires 4 flexible inserts, so I suggest printing 6 to 9 so you have extras in case of printing errors or damage. This can be done as a single job with multiple copies of the object.</p><h5>Optional Adapters</h5><p>If you are going to mount the holders with optional adapters (instead of screwing to a wall), you will also need to <strong>print four adapters</strong>.</p><p>The adapters are designed to press-fit in the main bodies with no need for glue. Print two adapters normally, and print two in <i>mirrored</i> orientation to get necessary Left and Right pieces. Peg board adapters are not symmetrical.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Blank</strong>: Prints with a flat back surface. Meant to be customized before or after printing to suit your specific mounting needs.</li></ol><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:50%;"><img src="https://media.prusaprinters.org/media/prints/137549/rich_content/3a20829e-1280-4053-ad61-39cbc862dc19/img_0561.jpeg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%22d55d613a-4d7d-4276-aaf5-652e2bf03734%22%2C%22w%22%3A1280%2C%22h%22%3A1012%7D"></figure><p><i>Image: Use CA glue to secure 4 to 6 circular magnets to each magnet mount adapter</i></p><h4>Finishing and Assembly</h4><p>To finish the Forstner bit holders after printing, you need to:</p><ol><li>Paint the bit size numbers (in high contrast color)</li><li>Insert and glue the flexible bit holder inserts</li><li>(Optional) Attach mounting adapter</li></ol><p>For detail on finishing with paint and inserting flexible inserts, please refer to the finishing instructions on my <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/134541-wall-mounted-forstner-bit-holder">related compact Forstner bit holder print</a>.</p><p>To install the mounting adapters, simply align an adapter with the screw hole and indexing hole on the back of the main body and press fit. The adapters are designed to tightly fit without glue, allowing them to be removed or replaced in the future. Simply use four, short flat head wood screws to mount both main bodies. Bodies can be mounted side-by-side or stacked depending on your space and preferences.</p><h4><strong>Need Help?
