"Say! Where did you get that very unique tie?" Stan asked as we met at the water cooler during break. "I made it of course!" I replied. "Oh Sirmakesalot! What will you come up with next? You and your Maker contraption!! Ha ha!" First I have to say I never and I mean NEVER, wear a neck tie so I thought if I was to wear one what would it look like? It would have to reflect me and be friggin' cool! I have discovered a few attributes of my personality that have been very consistent through my creative ventures over the years. In particular is mechanization as a style. I love mechanical things. So as I was modelling my hollow universal joint for cable management, I thought this would lend itself well to the neck tie of my dreams! I figure it will take around 14 hours printing time so dedication is a virtue on this one! Instructions I am printing it at 20% infill to keep it light but with 2 shells to keep it solid. (saves time too!) You could scale it, just make sure you scale it in 3D and each file the same and it should work. (obviously) Print STL file link #1 and #2, 2Xs and each other STL, rings one colour and links another or one colour entirely. I left the top ring open on the sides so I could tie it on with something nice, I am working on a..."something"...stay tuned, a solution os coming. For now it is up to you but there is substantial room to lace something through. Bolo type tie was my thinking for now. Put some sand paper on a flat surface and scuff up the links before gluing. This ensures a good bond and a flat surface, if your build surface isn't perfect. I opt to use Krazy glue but whatever works for you, acetone, melting, something else. Once all links are assembled and you have unstuck your fingers from each other, simply pop the pieces together and...your done!
