Universal Wall Phone Holder

My design is a universal electronic device holder for phones, phablets and tablets. The design takes advantage of the recharging feature where the phone plugs into the wall socket. Instead of laying the device on a table it can now hang where the socket is with the cord wrapped around the back. Reducing clutter on tables and counters as well as protecting the electronic device from spills. The material used to make the holder will be abs plastic, as it is light and durable. With a streamlined and modern design, the final product could be manufactured with colours or prints, to match any home décor and/or personal style. My idea to make a wall device holder came from personal experience. I found that the phone holder I bought was a poor design. The holder moved around and when I put my phone on it, there was a tendency to pull my adapter out of the wall. Based on the problems I experienced, I sketched various ideas that might improve the design. From there, I created a detailed design in Creo and printed my first 3-D prototype. Testing of the prototype resulted in a further modification to enhance the design. The problem was the weight of the phone sitting on the holder pulled the bottom toward the wall, which caused the phone to fall off. Taking an iterative design approach, I adjusted my design to account for the problems. The new design, has an angled backboard and an additional piece on the back to resist the moment caused by the offset center of gravity. This prevents the weight of the phone from pulling the bottom of the holder toward the wall, potentially causing the phone to fall forward or pull the adapter out of the socket. The project was designed in mm but the default measurement of the program was inches, so it would need to be scaled down by a factor of 25.4. This product design is really cool. Not only can it hold your device in any socket but you can wrap your cord around the back-an additional design feature. This stylish design solved my problem with the store bought holders and is a big improvement on my first prototype. It is able to handle the weight of the phone and is completely stable; solving the old problem of "where do I put my phone?"
