This is my idea how to prevent or greatly reduce UpBox/UpBox+ airprinting failure. This problem is well known for UpBox users. It is mostly connected with heat buildup between extruder gear and the nozzle. This usually leads to melting filament wire before it reach nozzle and clogging it completely. Idea was to create additional direct airflow to cool down filament. You would need two printed parts (material should withstand high temperature - ABS+ should be fine) one is additional tunnel that uses and directs airflow from original fan and directs it to redesigned compartment (remove TIertime original casing) with gear and small ball bearing. It allows the air to cool filament wire more. As you can see on the pictures there are a few additional mods inside extruder head. I added PTFE tape between extruder stepper motor and filament wire in the neighbourhood of extruder gear. This would reduce resistance of filament. Next you can see the foil between nozzle heater and heatsink. This should prevent heat to penetrate the chamber with filament. What is important - do not let the foil or tape to touch hotend here. What you need: 1. PTFE tape (high temp resistant) - something like this: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-PTFE-Glass-Cloth-Tape-5451/?N=5002385+3293241741&preselect=3293786499&rt=rud 2. Ball bearing - you can utilize the one from original casing or buy a new one 3. M3 screws x 3 (two for the tunnel - original are a bit too short and one for holding ball bearing in place) and probably 1 washer for proper screw distance (casing with ball bearing) 4. Aluminum foil This is WIP mod so it probably should work. I can see my print times without clogging increases noticably. I highly recomend cleaning nozzle and whole printhead regularily. Please let me know if it helps. Michal
