US 100 Tons Roller Bearing Truck 1/32 - OpenRailway

1/32 scale model of a 100 ton roller bearing truck with axles mounted on ball bearings and working springs. I've designed this for a bigger project : a 50' heavy duty flatcar with 4 trucks. These trucks are in use on a wide variety of rail cars so you can use it for other purposes.   Printing tips: Everything is printed in ABS. Resolution : 0.1 mm. 0.35 mm nozzle ; 0.6 mm wall thickness and 35% infill.   After printing : First you'll have to remove the tiny supports on the lower middle plate of the Side Frame. Use a small cutter blade and then file the plate to get a smooth surface (it's the place where the lower part of the springs is inserted). If you want to use ball bearings for the axles you'll need 4 3x7x3 mm ball bearings. The axles are 3 mm stainless steel rods 61 mm long. There's a version of the Side frame without ball bearings using 63 mm long axles. The springs are scavenged from cheap ball-pens (the one in the picture is cut in 2). They're 4.3 mm in diameter but any spring with a diameter from 4 to 4.5 mm should fit. the length is about 10 mm but can vary depending on the desired strength. The brake shoes are glued to the brake beam which is glued to the bolster (raised side up).
