1/1800th scale Alaska Class Large Cruiser model. Certain elements not to scale. Although they were officially classed as Large Curisers, the Alaska class is generally considered to be Battlecruisers. These cruisers were about as long as some of the largest battleships. Six were planned, but only two were built. Since they were commissioned so late in the war, 1944, they did not see much service. They were decommissioned in 1947. This model is designed and tested at 1/1800th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/1800th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The gun barrels and mast have been enlarged. This is part of my collection of WWII warships, keep an eye out for more to come. If you have a specific request, message me and I'll bump it up my list. Update 28 March 19: Complete redesign with better detail. Update 20 Aug 19: Added boats and anchor chains. Update 19 Dec 19: Added proposed guided missile conversion. Tested with PLA at .08mm layer height with .4mm nozzle.
