The M60, originally produced by Saco Defense - absorbed by General Dynamics in 20001, is a multi-purpose machine gun that equipped the United States Armed Forces beginning in 1957. It was notably used during the Vietnam War where it was nicknamed "The Pig". Despite its notoriety among the general public due to media coverage of the Vietnam War and its appearance in various war films, its many shortcomings led to its replacement by the FN MAG.
