USB Drive Card Case

This is an enclosure for those “Credit Card” USB drives. I found that they are very inconvenient to use in tight spots, like on a Raspberry Pi, car console, behind a PC, or when they dangle, like from a Stereo.

But just the thumb drive without the car feels too flimsy. So I designed this enclosure.

Instructions

When slicing, take note at which layer the hole for the drive start to close, and return one layer, when the hole is still open. Like this picture:

Take note of the layer number. In this case, 22.

In Cura, go to Extensions > Post Processing > Modify G-Code

Add a Filament Change or Pause at Height script. Use the layer number you found just before. If you use the Pause at Height, make sure the Park print is selected.

Slice and print. The printer will trigger a filament change at the right time, if all went well. Then you can put the thumb drive, contacts up, with a drop of superglue to help hold in place. You can change the filament for a 2 color effect if you want.

Resume printing, the printer should automatically avoid the small hump of the thumb drive and print the rest of the enclosure around it, sealing it inside!
