V.I.N.CENT (Vincent) From the Black hole

thingiverse

V.I.N.CENT (short for Vital Information Necessary CENTralized) served as a utility robot aboard the U.S.S. Palomino and as the crew was on the return journey home he detected the black hole, the largest one he had ever encountered. This is V.I.N.Cent from the black hole. I put this together in tinkercad, this is now my second model type version, after I finish my test print tomorrow I will post and notes needed or fixed files, hopefully things will work well. it's a very good representation but it needs more detail to be added with paint as this is built with tinkercad which is limited for some details. I've included photos of V1 (prototype) at a raw 50% print (the silver) and the full size version which is painted, as it's all radius and curves it will benefit from fill and sanding which I will be doing on the next versions Sunday, September 27, 2020 - 12:03:47 PM - I created a few simple bases for this model here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4608336 Saturday, September 26, 2020 - 5:27:11 PM - Update: I have printed version 2 the body comes out excellent, no support is required at all :) total print time is around 6 hours, although I went .2 and 20% fill on the body I think the round parts could use more fill or a tighter .12 resolution. - The arms come out a bit thin, I am currently reprinting these at 117% on the z-axis and 110% on the x-axis - the legs come out a bit thick also, sanding is really all that's needed and I think this is still the best way as it allows for a snug fit for changes - the center inserts are also a little big, printing at 95% on the x&y axis make these just the right fit with a touch of sanding for a nice tight fit - All small parts were printed at 50% fill for strength Saturday, September 26, 2020 - 12:00:15 AM - Version 2 has been added (While version 1 was more of a quick print toy type version while version 2 is more a model type, print time will be a little longer but not by much) - New body design (now really close to the movie prop, body blends with the blasters properly now - Arms are now a separate print and are retractable (tolerance may need some sanding, I tried to allow for it, but every printer/setup is different you may need to slightly scale or sand them. - legs are now replaceable, included extended legs and the retracted. these again may need adjusted tolerances, legs are split for easier printing but will need some edge cleanup - I have recessed the eyes, pupils are recessed for paint. - added removeable tool slots, included detailed blanks, and added drill arms, (again, tolerances) - Added a 5mm mounting hole to the bottom, I will add a base/stand in the next day or so History: September-26-2020 - version 2 completed September-25-2020 - initial build prototype completed - test print completed and successful If you enjoy my prints or remixes please consider becoming a Patron! https://www.patreon.com/rkxdesigns Becoming a patron gets you early access to files and opportunities to get involved with the creative process.
