I converted my Ender 3 to direct drive with the BIQU H2 and needed a guide to keep the filament from unspooling or getting tangled. The static ones I saw online didn't work great, so I designed this one to move up and down and left and right to follow the extruder movement. It's based off the filament runout sensor mount on the Ender 3 S1. More Ender 3 models at https://www.thingiverse.com/vampyrex13/collections/my-ender-3-models. Updates ------- • 2023.02.15: v2 angles the resting position of the arm up 18°. The pivot arm has been updated as well. • 2023.01.25: Made the base a little wider for better stability. Versions -------- • I recommend using the v2 base, but I have left the original one just in case. The new base raises the arm's resting angle up 18° and has the pivot sitting over top of it instead, which is reversed from the original model. I would never see the arm drop any lower then that during prints. I found that angle works well if you have your spool mounted sideways, or in my case, inside a SUNLU S2 filament dryer on top. I also helps to reduce the wear on the top rear part of the PTFE tube. • The short arm should be used with extruders that have the filament inlet close to the x-axis gantry plate such as the Creality Sprite. The long arm will work best with extruders that are further out such as the BIQU H2. Hardware ------------- • (2) M3x12mm socket cap screws • (2) M3 nuts Installation Notes ------------------ • The pivot can be installed so that you can have the base on the left or the right. Just make sure the leg on the pivot is close to the arm and is facing down. Buy Me a Coffee? ---------------- Do you like my work? You can buy me a coffee at https://ko-fi.com/vampyrex13.
