Vacuum Pen Holder

Vacuum Pen Holder

prusaprinters

This is a holder for a vacuum pen, for manual SMD assembly. It is inspired by a holder for a soldering iron. No special requirements apply for a vacuum pen holder, because (unlike a soldering iron) it does not get hot.

There is an option in the OpenSCAD file to have a hollow section in the middle of the base plate, to add a block of iron or steel for a bit of weight. To use it, you should add a pause just before the layer that closes the hollow section (so you can add the weight before continuing the print).

The suction tips are fairly universal in dimensions, but the vacuum pen itself may not be. My pen is 10mm in diameter. I added a print file for a pen with a 12mm diameter as well. The OpenSCAD file allows for extensive configuration, of course.

Print instructions

This model can be printed with PLA, PETG or any material. No supports are needed (amazingly).
