Various Organic Structure Trivets cnc/laser
cults3d
Unlike my earlier showcase of a trivet, these structures are born from pure procedural design, with no reliance on tracing or pixel manipulation whatsoever. I relied solely on Illustrator and some incredibly clever scripts by Hiroyuki Sato to craft various organic forms. To make these trivets a reality, I utilized my entry-level CNC machine and 6 mm birch and beech plywood. To prevent the exceptionally bright birch wood from burn marks when used with extremely hot pans, I applied a smoked oak veneer to one surface. A laser cutter could be an excellent alternative tool for creating a trivet like this. In fact, I've even seen some scaled-down prints of similar designs.
