Vector 3 Spool Holders (Quick Swap)

These spool holders are designed to work without needing to be screwed into place, they simply slip over the spool holder bracket and stay in place. This means you can swap them quickly and easily should you have a smaller spool that won't fit (even on the standard spool holder) or a large fat 1KG spool that is too big for the normal one. The standard Vector 3 spool will fit on the small one so you should never need to use the normal one again. The "XL" spool holder is big and beefy, even with quite low infill the bracket seems as though it would fail before the spool holder does. These have been serving me well through quite a few prints now so I thought I'd share them for any other V3 owners out there. Print Settings Printer: Vector 3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% Notes: You'll probably need to rotate it 90 degrees to print it flat on the bed (not standing up tall). I still can't seem to pick the right axis to start building from in Fusion 360. How I Designed This I needed a bigger spool holder for a 1KG roll of filament I bought, and after checking thingiverse wasn't satisfied with all the models designed the same as the injection molded part, needing support, still needing to be screwed in. Before even checking thingiverse I figured out the best way to print it, but everyone else designed theirs to be printed upright. Plus, I wanted something that was easier to swap between multiple sizes. We need to remember 3D printing doesn't have the same constraints as injection molding, we don't need to add ribbing for strength, we can do things differently. So I did, please enjoy my quick swap spool holders. The funny part is, my design was probably easy to model in CAD than any of the other designs. I probably don't even have the CAD skill to model it the way others have, but I still think my design is better suited to being 3D printed, and is more easily interchangeable to boot. (Rooftop spool holder notwithstanding. That is a great idea, and a solid design, it's just not how I want to have the filament on my printer)
