This is a 3D model of a velomobile, or - to be more specifc - a Sinner Bikes Mango Sport (as manufactured in 2013). The role model is a 3D point cloud generated from a series of images. A velomobile is a recumbent with a shell which allows for higher speed and comfort than usual bikes. The model is a bit simplified to be printable at smaller scales, so not every detail is covered here. The images try to summarize the production process. Print Settings Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro 2015 Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.27 mm Infill: 20% Notes: Printed with Colorfabb Woodfill filament. It is the first time I tried to print with this kind of filament and it took several attempts. The main result is to print at very low speeds (10 mm/s). The support is printed with a standard PLA which doesn't seem to stick to the Woodfill filament. Post-Printing Smoothing The woodfill filament is nice to be sanded afterwards which yields a smooth surface. Afterwards, I applied some wooding oil. How I Designed This 3D Scan I used a smartphone camera to catch ~100 images of the vehicle. The VisualSFM (structure from motion) program converted then these images to a 3D point cloud. Blender was then used to create a model by using this point cloud as a role model.
