Vent Cap Wrench for Basement Watchdog sump battery

Vent Cap Wrench for Basement Watchdog sump battery

thingiverse

My Basement Watchdog sump pump backup battery has vent caps that can be somewhat tight and hard to turn. I top off the cells with distilled water every 6 weeks. This wrench makes the job much easier. The example shown is HatchBox Red PLA, printed with 15% infill, 5 perimeters minimum, 5 bottom solid layers. At 35mm/s it is a 3-hour print with the 15% infill. Darn it ! The first time I used the wrench to top off the battery, I discovered that the yellow cap that holds the level sensor rod has SIX ribs instead of EIGHT ! Why they make them different I have no idea. I don't really want to print another wrench just for that yellow cap. That cap turns fairly easy on my battery anyway, so I will just keep doing that one by hand. Update 12/4/2017: I uploaded a version of the wrench that should work with the six-rib cap as well as the eight. I have not tested it, and I don't know how strong it will be with only two blades, but it is there if you want to try it.
