Vertical Print Strength Test

Vertical Print Strength Test

thingiverse

Some of my prints came brittle and fell apart between narrow layers, so I designed this to see how various changes affected small vertical layer strength. Note: I am using ABS. Instructions Print, I used 50 infill. Try to snap off the vertical towers. If they are brittle and snap easily, experiment with the some settings. Extra shells helped. Not too many, or the print will just look strange. Also, decreasing perimeter width over thickness helped some for me, the shells were too far apart and not touching. If you use a heated printing bed, try increasing the temperature. Mine didn't go much above 70 C right now, but I'm working on making it more effective. SolidWorks file is included in case you need it for some strange reason. You can discuss better improvements in the comments, etc.
