Video Card Support Arm

Video Card Support Arm

This simple support bracket is used to prevent my RX6800 video card from sagging. Its enormous size/weight, paired with the tool-free PCI card lock on my Corsair Air 540 case, was causing the card to sag. It was actually enough to unseat itself from the PCIe Slot on the motherboard slightly, causing it to fail to initialize the video card during POST until it was re-seated. The support arm screws into a fan mounting hole on the back of the case using a 30mm M3 Standoff. On the rear of a case, a printed M3 washer secures the M3 screw against the mounting hole. I added some compliant foam pads on the part of the arm that the video card rests on, and wrapped it in heatshrink to protect the surface of the video card, and to avoid over-constraining the assembly.
