Panasonic produced many models of cassette player, the better models came with a remote control that was wired inline with the earphones. Many of them are collectable and they are still being traded on the 2nd hand market but many are missing the original remote control. This is annoying because on some models, the sound equalisation can only be changed on the remote. Panasonic portable CD players also shared the same remote control technology, so this project also applies to some models of CD player. This project produces the case and buttons for a wired remote control that will work on a few common models. There are 2 variants of the controller: The 3 button version works on the following models: RQ-X15, RQ-SX15, RQ-SX20, RQ-SX41, RQ-SX52, RQ-SX53, RQ-SX57 The 4 button version works on the following models: RQ-NX10, RQ-NX60V, RQ-SX30V, RQ-SX35, RQ-SX45, RQ-SX50V, RQ-SX60F, RQ-SX82V. Although I have not tested them, this controller should also work on a number of portable CD players: 3-button: SL-S130, SL-S140, SL-S118Z, SL-S138Z, SL-S320 and SL-CT470 4-button: SL-S230, SL-S650, SL-S651C It may also work on other models that came with a non-LCD type controller that uses a standard 4-pole 3.5mm plug. Included are circuit schematics for the two variants. The case is designed to accommodate a pre-drilled circuit board, cut to shape and populated with standard components. The jack to receive earphones is similar in dimensions to a Multicomp Pro MJ-2135 or Lumberg 1503-19. The button switches are 6x6x5mm overall and the potentiometer is a duplex type measuring 16mm x 2mm in size. Note: Once assembled, this case cannot be pulled apart without breaking, but it is small and it doesn't take long to print another one.
