Vinyl Record Weight

Vinyl Record Weight

thingiverse

This is a remix of aaronnbon21's Record Vinyl Weight: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2491262 I liked his design, but needed a heavier version. I kept the same basic diameter, but decreased the thickness of the vertical walls to 1.6mm (from 1.8mm), and shrank the diameter of the internal penny holders to more closely fit the pennies. This allowed me to add one more internal penny holder, for a total of 7. I also increased the height to allow for 3 more pennies to be held in each column. I made some other minor changes like decreasing the diameter of the spindle hole for a more precise fit (should fit standard spindles of 7.4mm); put small fillets on the bottom edges so that they are not as sharp (less risk of damaging the records). The lid now attaches securely to the base via friction fit of the central cylinder. (you can glue it together if you like, but I don't find it necessary) This fits my Fluance RT81 record player perfectly and allows for the dust cover to be closed while in use. The end result is that it now weighs 450g as compared to 250g. This is still not as heavy of the official Fluance version (750g), but should still work well. Note, this is sized for Canadian pennies, but I believe American pennies should fit as well. I've included a penny tester for you to print first to make sure this will work for you.
