This 7 stage axial flow compressor drives the accessory gearbox and is turned by the turbine using splined couplings. The split stator rings are one piece castings, the compressor blades are clamped between the segments forming a complete structure. It is supported by the front bearing which allows axial movement due to expansion and by the central bearing which gives axial location. The casing are split at the centre line and support various components. Air is removed from the last stage to provide mixing air for the fuel injection and to provide cabin pressurisation. The spacer disk between the last stages has holes in it to provide cooling air for the centre bearing and turbine stage.
