In today’s modern world, nations across the globe are arming themselves for the next global military conflict through the creation of larger and advanced navies, armies, and air force. One of these nations that is actively preparing itself for this conflict is our nation, the United States of America, seeking to hold its status as the leading military superpower of the world. Our government currently oversees the largest and most advanced navy that the world has ever seen, giving itself and its NATO allies a dominant presence in the seas. One edge that United States has is its Virginia Class Nuclear Attack Submarines, perhaps the most advanced and complex class of attack submarines deployed by the United States navy till date. Now as one can easily see, the object modeled by the designer was one of these Virginia Class Submarines, the USS Missouri, a great example of modern US Naval architect. My inspiration for this design was my fondness of warfare and modern military technology, particularly of the navy. My interest in naval engineering and architecture began when I first learned about the notorious German U-Boats utilized by the Kriegsmarine during World War II. From there, my interest peaked when I learned about US Navy’s Virginia Class Nuclear Attack Submarines, the most advanced class of submarines till date. Having keen interest in naval architecture, I chose the create a model submarine for the Art and Architecture Category of the Competition. This model has been designed for a unique application: a toy. Specifically, this submarine has been converted into a sling-shot/gun. Although not shown, the device will include rubber bands attached to the Launching Part and the interior of the Main Chassis in order to launch the torpedo. Essentially, the operator pulls back the launch mechanism, loads the torpedo, then releases the launch mechanism to launch the projectile. If item does not work, please throw.
