a 3d printed electronic colour egg timer, rotate to select hard or soft, times set in code. designed for the #CountertopChallenge video https://youtu.be/_Izagx-EP9M 3d printed egg timer, uses attiny 85 and 3 x ws2812 LEDs to time either a hard or soft boiled egg. Times are set in software. A tilt sensor detects which way up the egg is to set the timing. The device is powered by 3 x AA batteries in sprung loaded holders inside the egg. When not in use it is put to sleep and draws very little power. The sequence is fade to colour to show hard or soft, then the LEDs light in sequence changing colour from blue to orange, and the speed increases until the set time is reached when it flashes 5 times and hopefully the egg is cooked perfectly! A bit more work needs to be done on the detector code, and maybe it needs another tilt sensor at 180degrees to unambiguously detect the way up it is. Instructions print the shells in translucent white, and the 'yolk'/battery holder in the same or another colour, the battery contacts are M3 screws, one side sprung loaded, M3x8 and M3x12 with 3 springs needed. The code run on an AtTiny85 and the leds are 3 WS2812 cut from a strip. there are two webs in the battery slots so that you dont need to bridge too far, they should be cut away after printing
