I have recently taken geometry. I happen to be a visual special person so I loved it is definitely by far my favorite math. Some people in my class didn’t find it as easy as I did. I think this is for one main reason it is quite difficult to visualize all of these concepts in your head. They seemed to find it much easier when my teacher had visual models of these concepts. So I created a few 3D models of them. When I saw this challenge I decided I would publish one of them and this is the one I chose. It is a model depicting visually why the formula for the volume of a pyramid works. Although this model simplifies it a great deal it still illustrates the concept. The model is three congruent pyramids that fit together to create a cube. Since the formula for a pyramid’s volume is 1/3Bh and a cube is just Bh it is clear that the formula works Objectives: The objective is to demonstrate the formula of the volume of a pyramid Audiences: Geometry students Subjects: Geometry Skills Learned (Standards): The ability to find the volume of a pyramid and understand why it works.
